Ōtautahi Music Access Programme

SALTBOX Studios alongside RDU 98.5FM and with the support of the Christchurch City Council, will be subsidising access for Ōtautahi musicians to create and promote new work.

Our programme is able to subsidise access for 8 artists or bands to produce unreleased pieces of music.

Do you have your song written and ready to record? But need the time, resources and facilities of a full recording studio? Do you face a cost barrier that excludes you from producing your art to a high standard?

Then apply below.

Who is facilitating this programme?

SALTBOX Studios, RDU 98.5FM, and the Christchurch City Council are all facilitators in this programme.

What happens if I’m accepted?

Successful applicants will be invited to work with SALTBOX Studio sound engineers and producers to further develop, record and master an original new musical work. This work must be unreleased and not signed to any label or publisher.

The applicant will receive a full day recording and producing with a SALTBOX Studio engineer and producer, at SALTBOX Studios. We will enable you to record musical parts that are needed and help you mix your song so it is ready for mastering.

When is this happening?

The programme will accept 8 successful applicants from January until December 2024. Totalling 8 new pieces of unreleased music from Ōtautahi musicians.

How can I be part of this?

You must apply to be part of the programme. You can apply through our application form above.

There is a limit on how many places are on offer, but if you are accepted you will be entitled to a full day of studio time at Saltbox Studios. This includes an engineer and all the recording equipment including microphones, mixing console… etc.

Together, we will help get your music ready to release.
